Day 1: Depart from Nairobi and travel towards Masai Mara plains, to a local Masai village, a base for our biking trips. A totally unique experience of accompanying Masai guides as they walk through the Loita hills, sharing their knowledge of the local plants and animals with you. You can herd cattle with the men, bead jewelry with the women, visit the children in their little local schools and later fill your evenings with their stories by the fire. After your busy day, relax in the waters of natural hot springs – all under the equatorial stars. Overnight at Maji Moto Eco Camp (L,D).
Day 2: Spend the day knowing the Masai culture better. This will be also your first cycling experience on this journey. An easy cycling, covering around 12 miles / 20 km at the beautiful village surroundings. Under the lead of a local Masai guide you will experience this amazing culture and nature thru their eyes. You will visit little villages, schools and whatever interesting comes on the way. Overnight at Maji Moto Eco Camp (FB).
Day 3: After breakfast, the cycling adventure begins. The road will lead you through wide open savannas. The wildlife population here is occasional but you will definitely be rewarded by presence of gazelles, zebras and wildebeest on your way. You will be passing Masai settlements, being amazed about their lives and their relationship with nature and wildlife. You will cover approximately 25 miles / 40 km mostly on flat ground. Little part of the road is tarmac (paved), but the rest is off road (walking or cattle pats) on rough surface.
Your bush camp will be set in the forest, next to a natural spring. The position of the camp is perfect and in complete privacy with a good chance to watch wild game like buffaloes, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe and elephants passing by. Picnic lunch on route; dinner and overnight at the “Buffalo” camp (FB).
Day 4: Depart deep in to Loita hills. The paths will lead you through savannas, bushes and acacia forests. You will cross rivers and see lots of wild game just from the seat of your bike. The amazing scenery here is full of wildlife like antelopes, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes and even the big cats. You will cover approximately 25 miles / 40 km mostly on flat ground. Cycling is off road on rough surface.
Your second bush camp will be set under the shed of significant yellow bark acacia trees. Picnic lunch on route; dinner and overnight at the “Lion” camp (FB).
Day 5: Start cycling towards Kenyan’s most well-known reserve Masai Mara. This is a ride of 31 miles / 50 km. The paths will lead you through savannas, bushes and Masai villages. Arrive to your final destination in Masai Mara at lunch time. Staying at luxury eco camp will be a pleasant reward and a perfect starting point for your game drives. Here you will follow African big cats and other wildlife with a special safari vehicle. First afternoon game drive will take place this day. Overnight at Mara Tented Camp (FB).
Day 6: Game viewing at Masai Mara National Reserve. Overnight at Mara Tented Camp (FB).
Day 7: After morning game drive travel back to Nairobi.
